Abstract

The low interest in reading and writing, along with limited critical thinking skills, poses a serious challenge for youth in today’s era of globalization. Adolescents, as the next generation, are expected to make significant contributions to scientific discourse and intellectual development in order to enhance their personal quality and contribute meaningfully to the nation. Therefore, this youth empowerment initiative aims to explore the stages involved in establishing the Symposium Community to promote a culture of literacy dialogue in Pamekasan, and to understand the community’s routine activities in fostering such a culture among local youth. This community service activity employs the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method to identify and utilize the strengths and potential of each individual within the Symposium Community. The results show that the establishment of the community follows the stages of planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation. The community’s routine activities to promote literacy dialogue in Pamekasan include the establishment of the Symposium Books library, the creation of community t-shirts, and the organization of reading and writing training, research method workshops, and the development of the Symposium website. In addition, the community holds regular discussions—both online and offline—and conducts critical readings of reputable national and international journal articles.
